Noosa’s Black Arm Day PDF Print E-mail

Exactly twelve months ago on the 15th of March 2008 the Noosa Council was terminated by order of a State Government ignoring 95% of Noosa voters who opposed council amalgamation. What do we have to show for it? Just what FON & EDV predicted: a substantial  increase in rates, a serious decline in services, a major loss of key Noosa personnel in the increasingly Maroochy Centric SCRC administration, unprecedented development dangers putting Noosa’s Biosphere designation at serious risk, an on-going debilitating Tourism organisational debate at a critical time of need for the  industry and a dangerous Council deficit which threatens to go even higher with the true costs of implementing the forced amalgamation to be born by rate payers.

The Friends of Noosa and the EDV Residents Group  invite all greater Noosa residents and supporters to attend a Remembrance and Renewal Rally wearing a black arm band. It will be an occasion to mourn the passing of our local government and renew our commitment for the restoration of Noosa’s own  government.

By Rallying, the Greater Noosa community will send a clear concise message to all political parties that Noosa voters and supporters will continue the fight for as long as it takes to restore our Local Government.

Join us at 11:00 am on Sunday, 15 March on Noosa Main Beach  in front of the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club with a strip of black electrical tape wrapped around your left arm or ask for an armband from one of our volunteers on the day.

WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP!
