No doubt many of you would have heard the news about the LNP’s commitment to facilitate return of Local Government to Noosa. On Monday, visiting LNP leader John-Paul Langbroek, told several Noosa audiences, the LNP will put in place procedures necessary for Noosa to establish a Greater Noosa Shire within months of the LNP winning government.
Friends of Noosa have been fighting for this outcome from day one of the forced amalgamation but we are not home yet as the LNP still have to be elected. All the same it’s another ‘small step for mankind’. We are further encouraged in the knowledge the LNP currently enjoy an 18% lead over the government in the latest Galaxy Poll.
We know many Noosa residents thought it unlikely the ‘omelette could ever be unscrambled’, and even if it was the formation of new council would be prohibitively expensive. Well we not only believe it will be done but done at a very affordable cost. More on the design for a ‘new look’ village-style council will be announced in the near future.
The purpose of this communication is to let you know the latest turn of events in this ongoing saga and to once again express out confidence that we are not far away from re-gaining our right to self govern.
We thank you for your continued support as we wouldn’t be where we are today without it. As John-Paul said yesterday, “the LNP’s commitment to facilitate the return of our council was driven by the Noosa community’s aggressive campaign to de-amalgamate from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council”. So many thanks to all of you for your support so far but there is more work to be done and it’s critically important we ‘maintain the rage’.
