Who are Friends of Noosa?

The Friends of Noosa consists of residents, visitors and many others from all around Australia who vigorously opposed the forced amalgamation of Noosa into a regional council with Caloundra and Maroochydore in 2008.

It’s a membership based organisation with an elected committee vested with the responsibility of returning local government to Noosa and other like minded communities at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.  It also exercises a watching brief over the performance of the Regional Council and in particular policy decisions that could impact on the economic, environmental and social fabric of the Noosa community.

We currently have a commitment from the LNP (Queensland Opposition) to facilitate the establishment of a Greater Noosa Council, when they are returned to government, so long as there is strong community support for this initiative.  Our task therefore is to keep the community involved and aware of matters that could be damaging to Noosa’s well being in the mean time.
